WASSAILING 2022

FLOWER AND VEGETABLE SHOW.

A successful afternoon was held at the Village Hall for the 33rd Flower and Vegetable Show on 24th August.

Approximately 100 attended to see a room full of entries of all kinds, with over 200 entries, including many from children.

Entries varied from knitwear, photos, crafts, children's art through to the best veg and flowers of all kinds.

Tea, coffee and delicious cream teas were served and a raffle was drawn at the end.  An excellent day, with a profit of over £100 to boost the hall funds.

WINTER WARMER

The Watchfield Hall committee held a very successful "Winter Warmer" on Friday March the first.

Attended by over forty villagers and friends enjoying a menu which included Cottage Pie, Mexican Chili, Hungarian Goulash, Chicken Casserole and Beef Stew, followed by a local Cheese Board.

A raffle of wine and chocolates, all of of which were kindly donated, was well supported, and after the meal a photographic competition took place. Twenty photographs of things and places, all within an eight mile radius of Watchfield, but taken from an unusual angle had people guessing, with some surprising results when the full picture was revealed at the end of the evening..

Four hundred pounds was raised by the end of the evening, which went towards hall funds,and people left at the end of the evening replete and happy.

Harvest Supper 2019

An excellent Harvest Supper was served by the committee, with superb entertainment from Andy Bennett of Somerset Radio after.  A great time had by all.

Christmas 2019

A warm welcome waited at the Hall, with mulled wine and mince pies, for those who had enjoyed the Carol Service in Edithmead Church.  A lovely start to the festive season.

Wassailing 2020

An enthusiastic crowd joined the Bennett family for  their traditional Wassailing, in memory of Viv Bennett.  Cider soaked toast was put in two trees by the Wassailing Queen (with a little help), blank shots were fired (after a warning) and the Wassailing song was sung.  Then back to the Cider House for a delicious meal and excellent entertainment.  See gallery for photos.
